Things to Know Before Your Procedure

Adults
  • DO perform your normal morning routine such as showering and brushing your teeth.
  • DO wear casual, loose-fitting clothing, such as a sweat suit, which can be hung or folded for storage.
  • DO arrange for a responsible adult to drive you to the Center and home after the procedure and stay with you at home for 24 hours. A family waiting room is available for companions and relatives.
  • DO bring your insurance card and any medications you may be taking.
  • DO NOT eat or drink anything after midnight (including gum) the night before your surgery unless given specific instructions by the pre-op nurse during the pre-op interview.
  • DO NOT bring valuables or wear jewelry (Please remove all items involved with body piercing.).
  • DO NOT bring gowns, robes, or slippers. These items will be provided.
  • DO NOT smoke immediately before (or after) anesthesia.
If you have a change in your physical condition before surgery such as a cold, fever, persistent cough or rash, contact your physician immediately.
